Default Is a 3600 vig too much of a stall for a bolt on LT1?

my plan was to go with a 3600 vig stall for my bolt on LT1... but then a few people have been telling me it is too much of a stall for my car since it is only a bolt on LT1... so what do u all think? will a 3600 maximize my performance or overkill it?

If you are set on the vig, you need to call them and see what thet suggest. Give them specs on your car, intended usage, and your performance goals. They are the professionals. Put the pressure on them to provide you with a product that suits your needs.

I'd call Vig but there 3600 is more like a 4000 which is real big, LT1's torque curves come in sooner than LS1's so we don't need as much stall as them. Where are your shift points set at? For ex. Yank's SS4000 which is very similar to the Vig 3600 has a shift extension around 5300rpm. I shift at 6400rpm with my cam so that converter is a nice match for me. If your shifting at the stock 5700rpm then that is a horrible converter to use. The Yank SS3600 has an extension at around 4900 which is also a great choice for me which is what I went with because I want to run Nitrous so the lower extension is a better choice but even that is too big if your shifting at the stock shift points.

Then you need to get those shift-points reprogrammed and get more agressive with the shifts! That should improve your ET as well as the new stall. The new Vig converter will probably give you a minimum of five tenths, if you have the traction to go with the launch!

Post up after you talk to them. I'm interested in what they have to say, since my car is a similar set up. Right now I'm happy as could be with my performabuilt 3000 stall.

I had a vig 3000 stall when my car was bolton and I hit a 1.66 60ft with it but was usually 1.69-1.70

but now I like my 5200 stall better

my best bolton time was 12.58@106(1.66) 3650 race weight
not nearly as fast as some of these bolton guys but I was happy with it

the vigilante "0" (the # they assign the pump) 2800-3k stall is a great for a stock/mild LT1
raise the shift points and you'll love it
remember a higher stall makes the shifts softer

1.66 (best 60') with 3.23 gears here on nittos

I have the 3200, drives great, cant see why a 3600 would be worse.
