Default Installed a cutout... Question

I just installed a 3" Hooker catback with custom cutout. I opened the cutout, and it felt like i lost a little low-end but gained some high-end. Is that normal on pretty much a stock car?

I have the SLP CAI, Trickflow elbow, BBK TB

Yeah that's the way it is with almost any kind of car. Change of volume of air flowing and speed affects horsepower and torque.

Faster air speed and less volume=More Torque

Slower air speed and more volume=More Horsepower

Or at least that's what I've grown to think.

Honestly, it's mostly in your head. Just because of the sound of the cutout getting to you. Sure you may have dropped some hp/tq in the low-end of the powerband, but it's honestly no more than 5hp or so... nothing you could honestly feel a difference from.

And 99FormulaM6, I'm interested to know how a cutout "shifts the powerband" of the car...

its gives more top end and loses a little low end torque...so it seems like it 'shifts'

Well. I went from a Flowmaster catback to the 3" hooker. Not sure what size pipes were on the Flows, but not 3" for sure.. so it wasn't only the cutout..

People always think that, but on the dyno I gained 10hp and 1 tq the whole way over stock. The sound does make it seem like your going faster but really movin.

Well this mustang i saw at a dyno shop a week ago gained 13hp from opening the cutouts. Did back to back runs and those are the results... It deff feels like a difference to me when i open mine, but then again it may just be the sound.
