Default Dont ship Via DHL!

Well i sold my Hpipe and Longtubes to a member on here, no problems with the transaction i shipped the hpipe and turndowns with DHL, since they had the best price(i guess you get what you pay for) 2 pallets nailed toghether and Hpipe and headers were ziptied to the pallets with super heavy duty zip ties like 20-30 of them if you tried you couldnt rip these off.
Hpipe arrived 6 days later to the persons door and only Hpipe itself with no pallets or headers. Now i filed a missing item report faxed it to them along with a record of payment. DHL said it take up to 30 days to process and they will send somone out to buyers house to invistigate. Well i waited untill today, called them back today and customer service person was rude as could be told me that i have to file a report AGAIN since they had no record of the report i filed on the 6th of this month. I cannot speak personally to anyone in that deparpment only email or fax(how convinient ) I give up trying to fight this ****........anyways just thought i would share my awsome experience.
Joe i'll paypal you the refund for the headers like promised.
that is all

over the years I have had things lost via fedex dhl and ups (currently dealing with ups) and they all are the same or close when it comes to needing a claim. so it is a crapshoot on shipping companys.

and I dont know if its just me but every time I read hpipe I see it as hippie.

Thats because your brain only uses the first and last letter of a word to quickly distinguish what the word is. Because the two words are so similarly spelled your brain is being tricked

Or rather...

According to a researcher (sic) at Cambridge University, it doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be at the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself but the word as a whole.

I shipped a package to Israel recently via DHL and somehow they managed to ship it to Maryland! It took me two weeks to get it back. Very hard to deal with.

Good Luck,

I have heard a lot of horror stories about them, more outright lost items than the other two big players combined.

Only time I have ever dealt with them was receiving some additives for oil and fuel, I guess they are more lenient on what they will allow shipped so some places use them for flammable liquids.

A guy told me who works for them "Dumb Hillbilly Lost" like me. I used them once and after 2 weeks to go 350miles I learned a good lesson.

No problem Andrey. I wish I woulda just kept with the original shipping company we had picked. I'm just pissed now cause I have to find another killer deal on some LT's haha. Thanks for sticking through this whole thing with me though. Should have gone for more on the claim lol. At least we learned our lesson to not use them any more.

When I deal with the various shipping companys at my work I always get the tracking # and if I have not recieved item ask for a SIGNED reciever. This usualy shuts them up fast and gets them moving on things. It does not help with getting the item back necesarily but helps you to get a refund faster. If you can ship things through a business they seem to cater to you a little better. My best luck has been with ups and then fed ex. I hear alot of horror stories about dhl.

I would advise against it also. Someone shipped a transmission to me and they broke the case. Looked like they dropped the whole pallet off a fork lift.

I'm not trying to defend DHL, UPS, Fedex or the USPS, but the major problem I see is improper packaging by the sender. We ship thousands of packages including lots of engine parts. We have received $2500 heads packed in an oversize carton with air bags or styrofoam peanuts thrown loosely in when they should be in tight-fitting cartons packed inside another carton with solid filler like sheets of corrugated board (aka "cardboard") to keep things from moving about. If you have ever purchased heads from a manufacturer like Dart you will see good packaging. The sender wonders why he is charged extra to clean up the dings in the heads or even remill the faces.

No offense to the OP, but the description of 50# of headers zip-tied to 2 nailed together pallets scared me as a shipper. Either ship them in large cartons (which you can cut down from even larger ones), or even ship them loose with padding taped on. Put the H-pipe in a carton. Ship each piece/carton as a separate item. Your chances of getting all of the parts to their destination without damage is greatly increased.

My $.02

Jon
