I can tell you guys this.........since this is a private event with a private track rental the rules may be a little laxed. Meaning we/they may overlook some things. But .....DO NOT COUNT ON THAT. My opinion it will be relaxed on some things. I would say if you are running high nines but have no licensed yet you should be ok. SFI bellhousings may be overlooked. The things I would really look out for are roll cages, 5 point harnesses, battery cut-offs, open ended wheel studs on the rear if needed.........etc. Take this info as a grain of salt.........DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THIS BECAUSE IT IS NOT GUARANTEED but private events are usually more relaxed on things.

call the track. Im not sure b/c i'v never been concerned with rules for that fast of a car. But i've called them with questions about a cutoff switch for relocating the battery and they told me I don't have to meet those nhra rules unless im competing in a nhra event for points.

then it sounds like anything goes there! a battery switch on a car with the relocated battery is pretty much mandatory to any track I have ever been to.

From what I've been told only the faster classes (TAFC and faster) need the SFI approved diaper. Slower ones like the 'Super' classes need a diaper, but it doesn't need to be certified.

In the rule book it uses two words to cover this. "Permited" and Required" If the class "Permits" the used of an Oil retention device I am guessing you would not need a SFI cert.

If it "Requires" the use of said device it Must be SFI Cert.

At least that is the way Division Six Tech see's it.

If you flip through the 2008 rule book you will see "Required" in quite a few classes.

My friend (Paul) who has a low 8 second 1st Gen BBC Camaro is in the process of getting a diaper and is on-top of all the new rules. He is working with Stroud Safety which is a local company. I'll talk with Paul next week and see what he has to say about it.

Two years ago, I saw a really bad 8 second car crash when the tires were oiled-down. The driver fractured some neck vertebras in the impact and now he can’t get a medical to get his competition license back. So he isn’t racing now.

That's interesting...good news if they actually decide to produce something for us LT-1 guys. Last time I talked to them, they treated me like a red headed step-child when I mentioned that I had an LT-1. Please keep us posted with any new updates.
