Question on OEM fuel line material

Default Question on OEM fuel line material

I'm swapping an LT1 into my '87 Monte Carlo SS. I would like to make the engine compartment appear as "stock" as possible - like GM built the car that way. Toward that end I'd like to use the original fuel lines that came off of the '95 Trans Am. But, I am unfamiliar with this material - what is it? I had to cut the lines off of the fuel rails when I pulled the engine.

How do I go about reattaching these lines back to the fuel rails? It appears that the original lines were just shoved on - no clamps or anything. Do you have to heat the material before you shove it on to get it to expand? Or do you heat it afterward to shrink it tightly onto the barbed lines on the fuel rail? With the higher fuel pressures necessary for the FI, I want to be sure it's well attached, but I think a couple of clamps will look pretty cheezy.

What would be the correct way to reattach these lines so the look as "stock" as possible?

its nylon tubing, you heat it just a little, until it slides over the barbs. i needed some on to hold the torch while i pushed really hard, it doesn't take much heat at all. When it cools down it seals. there is a tool to actually push them into eachother, but heating works just fine. i bought some off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/NYLON-TUBING-PNE...QQcmdZViewItem
