Electrical issue i think?

Electrical issue i think? Well yesterday I was driving the car for the first time in a week. I let it warm up and when I got about two-three miles down the road my ABS INOP light came on my CHECK GAUGES light came on and my temp gauge pegged out. I pulled over on the spot and shut the car down and turn my fans and electric water pump on affaid that the car had over heated and when I turned the car off and then turn the ignition to the on spot to turn the water pump on all the lights turned off the temp gauge went to normal and all was good. What should I be looking for? I think it is a short because the abs box and the water temp sensor are on the same side of the car and maybe it got pinched or something during the motor install. Any thoughts and info would be great, time is running out for improvements for the car, I go back to school this week for the first time in 11years. Thanks.
