ajustable fuel pressure regulator

Default ajustable fuel pressure regulator

is it beneficial? i just found out i had one from the previous owner. can i use it to squeeze out more power?

Regulators are a fuel system component NOT a tuning tool.

It will help at first. but the PCM will account for the higher pressure within a couple hundred miles.

If you play with pressure you will make it harder to mail order tune.

Playing with the regulator will change fueling at all points, tuning in the pcm changes it only where it needs to be changed if done right.


By changing it at all points you affect part throtttle where the O2s help the pcm learn, if you use the regulator to lean it out then the pcm will learn and correct at part throttle and will add at WOT as well.

The stock tune is too rich as is so usually guys make the mistake of trying to correct that by turning down pressure which results in the temporary power gain CRAZZ28 talked about.

If your injectors are too small or marginal you can bump up the pressure to make them act bigger.

Closest I can think of a case of needing one would be either a boost referencing one or if you have a truely high flowing custom fuel system sometimes the stocker can't bypass enough to keep pressuire in check.

As said they can be used to manipulate injector size if you have the wrong sized ibjectors.

I got one several years ago because I was told I could get a little more power out of the car by upping the psi. After having the car on the dyno and playing with it I learned, I was told wrong. I still have it on the car only because it looks cool if you notice it, and I paid a stupid amout of money for it, otherwise it serves no performance enhancing purpose for me!

You can get a CAP to make yours adjustable for dirt cheap from TPiS if you really want to do it and not shell out the $$$.
