Default How good are stock valves?

Wondering how hard I will be pushing stock valves running 15 lbs of boost with a forged 383 setup. What's everyone think?

if your just going to run home ported heads at least just buy some manley stainless steel valves and stick in there. there good quality and pretty cheap. I wouldnt run stock valves the heat that you'll be pushing through those things will have them out of shape in no time.

I ran out of money a long time ago

But I'm just trying to see what I can do on a budget. Nothing is to trick on the car, I'm still debating wether I'm porting the heads at all.

i would seriously consider getthing them ported with a good valve. there is alot of power to be had. just dont get them milled and run a thick gasket to lower that compression if you use stock heads of course.

Port the heads and run less boost.

Few years ago I was amazed to see an Impala on 12psi with alky engine had forged pistons to replace cracked stockers but was othwerwise stock, ran 12.8. These days my NA stock shortblock does that in the worst summer weather.

Point being ported heads are key to making power.

Boost is a measure of restriction, meaning it is more a measure of how much air is NOT getting into the engine.
