timing gear drives??????

Question timing gear drives??????

i want to give the wifes car the "whine" so all the ricers will stop trying but cant find a kit to work with lt1 can i use electric water pump and if so what the heck do i do bout cam drive? are there any kits or sites out there to help hook me up guys

Not sure on this as I have never done it but I think your problem lies in the opti, not the waterpump drive because it can be removed if going electric.

yeah thats what i have heard to, no way of getting around the opti drive

It will cause false knock. They all have the disclaimer "Not for use on vehicles equipped with a knock sensor."

I think if you have the late style opti, it would work. It's no different than the guys running regular SBC timing chains w/an EWP.

I had one in my TBI motor, and the whine was so cool Never got the motor running right, but I never found the reason either. Was so young, and so ignorant, it could've been a ton of thins. That whine though, I miss it and wish we could run it in LT1s. I'd get them in a heart beat.

There is some block grinding that has to be done though on some of them. I had mine machined for them. Was also told you need a special timing cover so that the cam doesn't walk around. I dunno though Ignorance is Bliss.

still doesnt get rid of the opti....and dont do gear drive...they are so annoying....put a shot and a purge kit on it....if they want to run...have her hit the purge to make them think twice....if they still do, then she will have something to back herself up
