I agree, but the 99 cobras were a joke. Shoulda been a CLOSE race, but pulling one by a few lengths means there are alot of unknown variables.

You are in the lt1 section where everyone thinks lt1's are built by god, what kind of answers do you expect people to give?
Maybe you can explain to me why it got waxed by a nearly stock LT1 then? And 250 rwhp? Most stock LT1's can dish out around 260-270 depending on the circumstances/year/etc. And i doubt everyone thinks the LT1's are built by god, cuz lets face it they arent. The LS1 is. I seen a dyno vid of an 01 cobra on youtube with Headers, Full Exhaust, Intake, STS(no hp gain i know), and 4.10's that only laid down 307 RWHP. And they say the 99's are the weak motors? Thats pathetic. Not to mention my friend is an excellent driver and he had an exhaust on the car. Not saying that will do to much but we all know the intake and exhaust systems on stock LT1's are very restrictive and an intake/exhaust opens these motors up more than other motors. Just something to ponder. Not trying to pick a fight here man but its not as unbelieveable as it sounds. An 01 may be different, but as i stated above it was a 99 cobra.

Here ya go. Lightly modded "2001" the 'so called' STRONGER motor vs. Lightly modded "1993" LT1. Just to show you how the LT1's respond to mods. Yeah its a close race. But according to the stock numbers and weights, the cobra should blow an LT1 out of the water. Stock of course. My point is how well an LT1 responds to mods, even at year 1993 it can still beat a NEWER, Supercharged Ford, and they both have relatively the SAME mods. Hmmm coincidence that as stated above the 99's and 01's are weak?

^It's suprising what LT1's can do. Some peolpe just don't realise that until they are awakened to it.

For some reason, fbodies don't feel as fast as they really are. Either that, or being in the drivers seat makes it feel slower. Because I have friends with Mustangs and they give a good seat of the pants feel, when I'm riding with them. But, to me, my car doesn't seem all that fast when it's supposed to be faster than the Mustangs I've riden in.

^ I felt like that in my old LT1. Mods are in sig. When i drove her she never felt as fast as if i let a friend drive. But when i ride in an LS1 its unbelievably better than an LT1. I think it just varies for everyone.

Yeah. I haven't really gotten to feel how fast my car is though. I have to be able to catch traction before I can get a good reading. lol. It's been too slick out to even hammer it in 2nd.

^Maybe its cuz the LT1's are abit heavier so it feels like your not going as fast as you are until you look down? Haha. But yeah i used to go to empty parking lots when it was slick out, barely go half throttle and was thrown around like a rag doll. Not to mention i would barry the throttle and nail 2nd at about 5k RPM's(way before usual) and still feel and hear my tires squeeling. I'd feel a slide to :-D. Thats with brand new tires to. These cars are no joke.

Dude, 01 is not supercharged. Please don't go spout this on other boards it sounds horrible. The LT1 is a nice engine for sure, but the only this that Cobra had aside from stock is gear and intake-not gonna make up for the full exhaust yadda yadda yadda on the LT1. Let's not do the here.

It is not hard to imagine a LT1 to outrun a 99 Cobra, the 99 GT will run side by side and the same ET. Thats why there was a re-call on the 99 Cobra's, the people who bought them $10,000 more were bitching that a GT will keep up or out run them so, Ford did a re-call and put aftermarket **** on them to hit the 320 flywheel hp that is why there is not a 2000 Cobra, Ford was re-engineering the Cobra and it came back in 2001.

And then they discontinued it after that because it still couldn't compete with the LS1 and they came back with a supercharged 4.6 4v in '03. lol

this is silly everyone always gets defensive about what car beat what car. the fact is maybe one driver was better than the other. that being said i have a 1997 Z28 6-speed that dynoed at 276rwhp and 316rwtq and i have raced a 01 Cobra and a 98 non PI vortec S/C'd Mustang GT and beat both by at least a car i think the GT was 2. but even knowing that i will never claim that my LT1 is GOD or is better than a 99 Cobra or a S/C'd Stang. i simply was a better driver. just my opinion

Well i learned something new. I thought they were supercharged, thanks for the correction. And im not nutswinging. I'd only do that for the C6Z06 or the new ZR1 thats comin out.
