Default rear main seal

2marrow i plan on looking under my car to see were the oil is coming from. im 90% sure its the rear main seal. how hard is it to replace? i looked at a thread on how to remove the trans. but in general what problems did u have replacing the gasket? any recomendations or tips?

It's no big deal, just a seal Ive used a couple screws to pull it out that worked alright.

Replacing it is a piece of cake. You do have to remove the trans. I've never installed one w/o the tool GM makes for installing it. Your local parts store might have one you can rent.

also check out the oil pressure sensor, oil pan, and intake manifold for other possible oil leaks.

When I installed mine I just put the old seal on top of it and tapped it in with a small hammer. A tool probably isn't a bad idea though.

i think i am going to replace mine also when i pull my trans for its rebuild
