Default valve float with crane 227?

i've been doing a lot of searching about the crane 227 because i plan on installing it in my car in the next month or so and i had a few questions

when searching it seems that a lot of people have had problems with valve float as low as 5800 rpm even with the recommended spring kit 10308's

i know the cam will only make power until about 5500-5800 but would like the option to rap it out to about 6100 or so at the strip without being on the ragged edge of valve float especially considering i will probably be using SA rockers can anyone offer any input of experiences or ways to help prevent it?

could be because they were installed incorrectly or something. I have spun my motor with 10308's up to 6500 with no valve float issues but that is with a bigger cam. Crane shows a valve float of 6300rpm with the 227 and matching components.

You can't run those with s/a rockers on stock valves.
And to the OP crane doesn't reccomend the dual springs on the cam card, you might want to go with the springs reccomended since they are a single spring with more spring pressure/rate than that double kit.

so these are the springs i should be running? 99845-16

i guess i got confused because on crane's website they recommended the single springs for the iron headed lt1's so i figured the other springs were recommended for the aluminum heads

by the way were you saying i shouldn't be using self-aligning rockers with beehives or i shouldn't be using them with this cam at all?

You can't run s/a rockers with 918's because you need +.050 locks to get the correct installed height. That doesn't leave enough distance between the top of the valve and the valve lock, so the alignment tabs on the rockers will hit the locks not letting the roller or rocker arm sit on the valve.
