Our cars aren't drag cars -_- They were setup to handle good, and perform good. So my opinion, have a drag car as a drag car, but a street strip car, you have to draw the line somewhere.

Can you? Sure, but I wouldn't, just because I don't like slop.

while saving weight the real gain is in weight transfer

Ours are SLIGHTLY front heavy. So removing the front sway will help make it more 50/50 instead of 51/49.

our cars are more nose heavy then 51/49 (i think its about 53/47), and it would take more then just the sway bar to transfer 1 percent

I read, and recently in another thread was confirmed on, 51/49. The reason we're better than the say 3rd gen, is how far back our motor sits. Might even explain why our *** end's panels are metal instead of plastic like the front, every little bit helps. And you're right, a sway won't transfer 1%, but I never said it would Battery, sway, bumper removal, ABS delete and you're getting there much faster than you'd think. Get some tubular upgrades up front and I'd be you've got a full % by then. But 50/50 is more of a track racing benefit than a drag racing one.

I think by weight transfer maybe was referring to the chassis wanting to put more weight over the rear wheels? Maybe I don't understand the concept right, but when launching don't you try to set it up so that the end squats so the tires are more planted out back?

I can't imagine that removing the front and rear sway bars on a car driven daily is a good idea at all. Just wait till he hits a curve going a little too fast.

When my rear sway bar link was broken, it felt like driving a boat. I would never remove either of them from my car. If you are worried about weight distribution, get rid of the ABS. That sucker probably weighs more than the sway bar.

From my exp at the track with and without the front swaybar my 60 is better without the swaybar. The front doesn't lift as much with it connected. Maybe there are other variables i don't know about.

I took my front swaybar off one day before I went to the track, no noticeable gains, and I HATED driving the car around without it, was almost two weeks before I got back around to putting it back on, put it back on and loved the car again. I'm more f a throw it into the turns than going in a straight line. If I was on the brakes and changed lanes, the car moved, to me, dramatically, only reason it's going to come back off is to replace the bushings, or to replace with a larger one

Taking the front bar out helps with weight transfer, but he obviously has no idea what he's doing if he took off the rear swaybar. And our weight distribution is more like 57/43 JFYI, and our car's handle like **** from the factory. I couldn't believe how much of a difference my suspension mods made. And 4th gens are awesome drag cars too so I don't get what you are saying by that.

You don't want the rear end to squat down. Your LOOSING traction and 1/4 mile time that way. Ideally, you want to rear end body to lift up.

The main reason for taking off the front sway bar is because the bar holds up your control arms when launching. The less weight helps, but it's mostly for weight transfer.

You want stiff springs in the back or a airbag in the left spring so when you go to launch the car you dont lose energy be the suspension squatting and more driving the tires when you nail it.

Thank you for explaining the swaybar/control arm thing. I was brainfarting and couldn't figure out how to describe it.

My front swaybar has been off for 3 years... and I always drive around with skinnies up front

Drives fine... although with the ZR1's up front (which I rarely put on anymore), the car tracks alot more up front.

Everybody has said it already, but i will say it to, you can take the front sway bar off, yes it will reduce some weight, will it help you on the strip, yes, dramatacally, no. it is safe to the car itself to drive without them, but as everyone has said your car will turn into a very very sloppy car to drive, not safe in my opinion.
