Default 1996 Cat Removal Questions

I have searched......................and searched....................and searched and I have come up empty handed on any thread about removal of cat. converters for 1996-97 OBD-II Cars.

What happens if you just flat out remove that cats and place straight pipe's back in there place? I'd assume they would run rather shitty?

What's the alternative for this? I have heard of o2 Foolers, but have been coming up empty handed finding these.

Thanks in advance for your 2 cents!

why? unless they're plugged they really aren't a restriction (the stock manifolds are and y-pipe are)

there isn't an easy way of running without a cat on the driver side since the cat is bolted right to a large flange on the exhaust manifold

you'd be better off getting some headers in my opinion

Ya it will cost you as much to get some pipes welded in as it would cost for some shorty headers. I suggest just going and gettin some long tube headers and get your computer tunned out. They can make your computer delete the need for the two rear o2's. Its worth it and helps with hp and definatly with sound.

Look for post Cat O2 Simulators not 'foolers'.

Also, as stated by someone else, those parameters can be edited out of your PCM, so you won't be in open loop at all times.

I guess I should have went into a little better detail on my original post.

I am doing a complete build up and I'm going with either Pacesetter or Jet Hot longtubes and I was just wanting to be prepared ahead of time if running without the cats is going to hurt anything, but since someone already mentioned that part can be deleted from my pcm then that more or less answers the question. Would make me sick if I go and spend nearly 10K on something and it run like its a cluster f*ck because of o2 sensor issues!

And no we don't have emissions testing here so I'm not worried about that.
