The front of the cams are different. First the holes in the cam will not bolt to the timing gear, the opti will not have a hole to protrude into, the LT1 has a plate that holds the cam in place and the old style does not have the required lip.
Thats enough to justify no, and I am sure there are probably others. And of course the other reason would be WHY!
