I mounted mine under the frame rails where the cruise control box is. I mounted the box where the air intake goes through the fender. There is a flat spot behind it where I mounted it.

Mounting in this location allowed me to use a stock set of wires (MSDs) because the coils are equal distance to the frame rails as the distance to the opti.

I welded threaded hex sleeves to the large heads of my LT4 valve covers and then made a 90 degree bracket. The coils are mounted on pieces of all thread.

you can also mount it on the lower radiator support....that way the coils are hidden and the wire lengths are approximately the same as they are to the opti...thats the cleanest install imo

Yeah, my opti spark kept ******* me when I was at TWS. First time the rotor exploded:

Then the rotor fell off, and then the optical half got all pissy and the car would die. I got really tired of fixing my **** at the track instead of driving it. Also burned some wires on my headers and really disliked how hard they were to remove. I also like the idea of a spark based rev limiter, because I hit it from time and time (and fuel cut makes me sad in the pants).

Stock LS1 coils off of a C5. Thanks for the compliments; it came out better than I thought it would.

what kind of plug wires do you use with those stock ls1 plug wires or do you have to cut your own size?

I would say the extra wiring is a small sacrifice!

I got a Jacobs universal setup. The coils use an LT1 style connector and boot, so I got an LT1 boot end kit to go with it. They were pretty easy to make.

I ran the opti that was on my car for quite a while after I got it with no problems, but then it started ******* up. I think the clutter is worth it knowing I'll never have another rotor exploded or have to miracle the spark plug wires past the power steering pump.

If your opti works for you, then great. If it doesn't, this is a great option IMO. I've had way too much trouble with me to ever consider going back, and my LTCC setup has worked great.

I actually had a LTCC setup...never installed it. Sold it when the MSD pro billet come out. then the car died at the track AGAIN- I pulled the opti, man I was PO'ed, to find out that it wasn't the MSD....Now I am pretty sure that the fuel pump is blinking out.

Anyhow - back on topic- the reason I never installed the LTCC was the mass of wiring- I was intimidated to try it myself. But looking back- I kinda wish I did.

Will post some pics in april when the car will get out of storage.

I inspired myself from the MBA fuel rail cover with mounting brackets for coils.

I ve machined 8 individual coils(im using ls2 one) brackets from 6061 billet aluminium(yeah im picky ) .

And for the plate i ve took some aluminium sheet(dont remember the thickness) and bent it to the good angle. The wire all pass under the plate and only the connector pass thru a hole on top on the coils.

Nice and clean
