Default No Start Condition on my 94 formula

well my 94 formula is having a little trouble starting. The ignition turns on but when i turn the key i get nothing. I thought it may have been the starter silenoid so i replaced the starter and still nothing. My buddy came over and helped me check out some of the relays. Also we jumped the terminals on the starter and that is fine. So i got power and and the sarter is in good. We tested the theft deterrent relay and the shifter position relay and the seem to be ok. We bypassed the TDR and it would start then die in a matter of seconds. We were trying to pinpoint the problem. We tested the little block on the ke and it doesnt seem to be conducting through both sides. Could this be my key? Or is it a good possibility of a faulty wire somewhere????

93 T/A is going through a similar behavior there's a delay after turnng the key where nothing happens then the motor starts to turn over and the car fires up.

Take it easy
Brewski

P.S. In my case I'm going to be trying the VATS/Key troubleshooting described in other posts in the forums cleaning key/contacts etc....

well occasionally before. i would turn the key and get nothing and then tried again and it would fire right up. Ive eliminated the fact of it being the starter. I guess my next best bet would be a new key.

I would try your ignition switch; although on mine I had trouble turning the key.

Same here mine went out a few times would crank then die, i could drive for a while then would take forever to start back up. You can pick one up for about 20 at any autoparts. I would just drop the column and pull out the connecters most of the time if there going out they will have burn mark's on the plastic

hey i had similar problems when i swapped out my motor. might not be it but make sure your shifter cable is adjusted right on the side of the trans. mine wouldnt start cuz something was out of wack between the shifter and trans cable linkage so i adjusted and did fine..try putting it in neutral and see if it will start

It is the receptacle where you put your key in!

To check it heres what you have to do take the cover off the botton of the column (take out your fuse for air bag to be safe) take the 3 bolts off the floor pan were the column goes in the fire wall then take out the to bolts
that hold the v shape piece under the column and then the 2 bolts that hold the column up. when it comes down you will see it right there on top has 2 tiny screws holdind it in place. you can unplug it and check for any burn marks but you might as well replace it they do go bad When you put it back in just make sure you Have The Brake safty switch back in the right place before you tighen it all back up and put it together another words just make sure it starts you may have to ajust it a little the only problem i had was getting the tiny back screw back in but its really easy
