Default Coolant Sensor

Can someone tell me why I can't find a 3 terminal coolant temperature sending unit for a 93 Camaro Z28? Or at least where I can find one. I did some headers on my friends car and of course luck came about and I snapped it off. Every auto parts store seems to only have the 2 prong and i need the 3 prong, it goes to the gauge. Thanks!

I never seen a 3 prong one for the guage. Maybe the one in there isn't original???

If all else fails and you need a 3 prong.. try a dealer? Shouldn't be that much more through them as opposed to a parts store. Actually, I think thats where I got mine from.

Agreed. My 95 Z has the 2-prong. I jumped over to Rockauto to check on
the 93 z and it's the same story:

Let me ask a bold question - which sensor are you talking about? Look here:

Are you talking about THAT sensor - the one to the right of Cylinder #1?
(or left of the allen / ratchet) ?

My fault, its the one near cylinder 1. Not the one in the water pump.

I just did the same thing.. you should need the 2 prong one. it has a large prong and a small prong. it's called the coolant temperature "switch" NOT "sensor" they have them at autozone I just made that mistake of asking for the sensor and it was the wrong one.. ask for the Coolant temperature switch and bring in the old one for verification lol .

2 wire for the ECM/PCM's sensor in the water pump, 1 wire for the gauge in the driver side head. Never heard of a 3 wire, what would the 3rd be for? Or is it an all-in-one sensor that does ECM and gauge?

thats what I'm wondering too. I'll take a picture tomorrow I'm telling ya its a 3 wire coolant temperature switch. There are 2 separate ones for sure - I have no idea why it would be 3 wires either. I'll have to check out the wiring diagram in my Haynes maybe I can wire up a 2 prong.
