How much power is stock muffler good for?
They are good for nothing. Most V6 people actually use the LT1 exhaust on their cars. Yes removing the cat helps a lot, but switching to a 3" system with a performance muffler will show a nice gain. Probably 10-15rwhp

But if you don't want to change the exhaust just install a cutout. This will help alot as well, but it wil be loud when it's open. If your wanting to stay stock for daily driving and have a lil power at the track a cutout is the way to go. Although it's even better to put on a 3" system with a cutout. Just my .02!

I have LTs and ORY with a 3'' cutout aith my stock muffler at the moment. Sounds just like a stock 96-97 LT1 that has the dual cats. Not bad. But I still need to find a place that can make me a reducer form the 3" to the stock IM of the stock exhaust system.
