Default Whats a good full length header for the price?

I've decided to work with the exhaust on my 97 6sp., i'm looking for a good full length header for the price & fit, it has cat backs now, but the muffler looks stock, how should i set up this system for overall max performance, i'm thinking along with the headers, maybe gutting the cats or removeing them, it has the one up on the drivers side, just below the flange, the other looks to be in the main pipe on the pass side. I just got it inspected, so its good for 2 yrs., should i get rid of the rear muffler, i met someone at the track with an LS1 SS, he said to work on the exhaust first & install headers, that i would be pleasently surprized. Any & all imput would be great.

Now if anyone has a good used set they want to sell, PM me.

Pacesetter LT's prolly best bang for your buck, there are alot of good catback systems out there it's really gonna be personal preffernce.

What price? What's your budget? Everyone has a different budget they
are willing to spend on various parts.

Pace Setter and Hooker and two good ones. Check the classifieds. I recently picked up a set of Hooker Super Comps for $200 with 3 bolt flanges and all. Get an offroad y-pipe. You can also check the classifieds for a catback. Straight pipes sound like ****.

Ceramic Coated Hooker Long Tubes with a custom y-pipe (using a flowmaster (2)3into3.5in ypipe) going into a 3.5 exhaust through a single in single out Edlebrock Victor Series muffler. It was quiet around town but sounded unbeleivable wide open. Performance was AWESOME. I went from a 14.1 & 98 MPH in my auto to a 13.1@104 with only exhaust and tuning. With a bigger stall and traction the car could have gone mid 12's with a stock cam.

Coated Pacesetter long tubes can usually be bought for a good price. I got mine from a sponser shipped to my door for less than $400. I am very happy with the fit and build quality. Good quality for the price.

Thanks for the replies, now he did do some up-grades on the exaust, high flow cats, 3" main pipe & i'm thinking they put a Megaflow or Ultra-flow muffler, so if i was to add headers, what gains would i see? Will the high flow cats be fine, or should i remove them? If anyone has pix of there exaust to give me some ideas, that would be cool too.

Pacesetters are good but careful with the non- race only ones since the EGR hook-ups have a tendancy to break off and then sound like ****! but bang for the buck go to summit...

Are these headers going to be an issue with the cat thats on the drivers side, i'll have to eleminate it, i'm still kind-of fuzzy on what i should do (route) the exaust after i install the LTs?
