Mentioning the XFI cams are hard on springs and mentioning good about BRE cams has no relation.
I am not going to say good or bad about anyone or anything until I have personal experiences with it. I would suggest that you do a thourogh search on each tho.
I have talked with Bret and Ron so I know where they are both coming from. Things you find on the net should be just that until you can interpret the source and validate the findings.I will leave that where it is if you want clarification pm me

What are the numbers for the 503? (lift/duration/LSA)

The Hotcam will usually make 320-330 on A4, and 330-340 on an M6 from what I've seen.

One of my best friends has a custom BRE cam and LE heads and his car is absolutely incredible and runs like a raped ape and I also have a buddy with a XFI cam 230/236 I think its the 467? who replaced his springs after 22k so I have had more experience than just things Ive found on the net. Sure those cams weren't in my car but its as close to personal experience as I can get without actually having them in my own car.

Well, I hate to do it but I'm once again changing the direction of my car. I have a Bret Bauer Custom Grind for 95-97 LT1. The specs are 230/236 .580 on a 110 LSA.
Hmmm a 467 on 110 lsa??????
Now check out the specs on that XFI I was suggesting and you will see what I was saying

Should be doable. Hotcam isn't for you though with the power you want.

the other issue is im aware that peak numbers are not always the best choice and that a smooth dyno graph IS the best choice. and according to comp cams, it seam the best cam for me may be the 305 and that the 503 requires porting the heads and intake.

I actually emailed comp cams also... I have an almost stock car(catback, CAI, etc.) will have headers by the time I get my cam installed, but they recommended the 12-366-4. 224/231 .520 .515 on a 113 LSA... It didnt seem big enough for me when I saw the lift, but the duration is bigger than the hotcam, and I've personally seen the hot cam make 345rwhp in an auto z28.

Is that lift with 1.5 rockers? I'd personally want more lift... but that's me.

Ya... with 1.5. So I guess I could bump it up to .554/.549 with 1.6RR's

Thats what I was thinkin... The duration isnt "small" but its a good mild cam but the lift is low, but consider it on 1.5 rockers...

yea its been proven to make like 320-330 rwhp in 6 speed cars. the fact of the matter is when MOST people go through the trouble to put a cam in an LT1, they want more power than what people are making with bolt on's. (i.e. 350+rwhp). zlover129 made over 350rwhp cam only with a custom grind from advanced induction. i made 385rwhp/395rwtq in my stock heads 383 with the cc306 cam. and as of now i daily drive my car, granted i have a 10 minute ride to work, but its more than streetable. streetable is an opinionated term anyway. i think non-streetable would be a solid roller big block. just my .02
