Yes, the loss of fuel economy and increase or rpm are minimal. The gains from 4.10's outweigh any proposed consequence.

You never know whats done to a car. I always thought I was being optimistic when I thought my car was a "freaK" since I was beating cars I shouldn't have. My car was 100% stock externally, but had ported heads and 1.6 rockers without me knowing it.

I thought there was a chance it had ported heads or maybe a baby cam but It doesnt, I confirmed it yesterday during the cam install.

My Hardtop 95 with only a K&N air filter, new 245/50's and Mobil 1 ran a 13.89 @ 99.
Not to shabby for a nearly stock A4 2.73 car.
Mine must be like yours. I am internally stock, but I have CAI, free mods, tune, and a catback. The only difference is I have 3.23's and I ran a 13.48@104 with brand new stock size tires. Some of us get lucky

Seems the LT1s are all over the board like the LS1 cars. My 94 Z28 6-speed went 12.98 @ 108.87 MPH with M/T radials, a basic PCM tune, home ported throttle body, Moroso CAI, Random Tech cat back, MSD 6AL and Blaster coil. I still had stock manifolds and a single cat y-pipe. DA was about +1100 ft and car weighs 3625 with me in it.

My 01 Formula is an A4 car (3.23s) and went 12.76 @ 108.81 MPH with a lid and drag radials. Bone stock otherwise. DA was about +900 ft.

Weather and altitude and the biggest factors in ET variances on stock cars. Sometimes those manufacturing variances work out in your favor too.

Sounds like some poor tuning or poor cam selection. See above post, I did almost 109 MPH with minor bolt ons and a basic program. I know of another 94 Z that went 111+ MPH with full bolt ons and 1.6 roller rockers, stock heads and cam.

Maybe, now that I think of it most of the cars I saw running were A4 hotcam'd cars...been awhile. They usually trapped 106-108. LT1 technology has also grown in the 10 or so years since Ive hit the tracks. Need to get back into it hopefully this summer , though I think Ill be going Ls1 .

My car traps a 107 with just bolt one not even all the bolt on at that. I still need to do rockers, electric water pump, under drive pulley(Most likely wont do) I Mods that made a difference was long tubes, madz28 tune and cutout. Car has 154k on it at that, just getting stronger with age.

Jditlfm, is that a mail order tune? Get a good hands on program in the car and you'll be amazed at the difference. Mail order tunes aren't perfect for every car in any way. The program in your car cannot be optimised unless it is done for your specific vehicle. Two identically equipped vehicles will like two different programs.

We put a quick program out of another bolt-on car into mine at the track just to see if it would help and I went from 105 MPH to mid 108 MPH range. Over the winter I put the car on the dyno for some tuning and gained another 18 HP at the wheels. I haven't hit the track with it yet but the dyno numbers and seat-of-the-pants dyno feel say enough for me.

Simply put, LT1s LOVE a good tune....and they NEED a good hands on program to ralise their full potential. Not a mail order.

Yes its a mail order tune i bought Lt1 edit with a laptop and the vin locked pcm from a user online. Come to find out it was the wrong vin Pcm and now the whole software is useless to me. Lt1 edit wanted a ridicules amount to add a vin so when i save up some money im going to get a newer laptop with tunercats and datamaster. I also have to buy a wide band for tuning.
