Question about heads!

Question about heads! I have been told that its not a good idea to powder coat aluminum LT1 heads, that its impossible to powdercoat aluminum LT1 heads, etc...
It is too expensive to get the outside of them polished becuase noone locally does it, I would have to send them off...
My question: Are these people right about powdercoating the heads? If so is it possible to paint them without the fear of the paint burning off or discoloring?
This is all assuming that when I take the heads wherever they need to go that they are bare heads...completely stripped down and ready for a port/polish and valve job. Input anyone??? Thanks!
