Default LT1 Question

When working on a 4th Gen with an LT1, do you have to take the body off as with the LS1?

One time i had to take off the t-tops, rear bumper and hatch. And that was just to pop the hood!! Imagine what I'd have to take off to change the oil!!!!!!

in an attempt to be helpful...are you talking about removing the engine from the bottom like you have to do with an ls1? you dont have to do that with lt1s.

maybe a winner for vaguest question ever on LS1tech..... I do think he's talking about the engine out the top vs the bottom.... LT1's you can do either..... The engine can come out the top or bottom although it was never designed to come out the top....

You know how in a 4th Gen Camaro with an LS1 you cant lift the motor out of it you have to lift the body off and drop the motor from the bottom because the space is so tight. Do you have to do the same thing with the LT1?

You don't have to, but some people think its alot easier.

Hell, well pulled mine tranny and all out of the engine bay with the hood on.

It can be done either way.
