Default The famous Optispark

Whats up everyone, I just wanted to know if there is anyway to get rid of this and get something like the LS1 cars have so its not so damn hard to do a tune up. If there is such a thing, how much does it cost and where can I find it.

Hey man. Do a search on optis and i'm sure you'll find more than enough info to cover this for you. There is a conversion though to put coils on like the LS engines but i dont know where you get it......but if you search you might turn something up.

Thanks guys that helps a lot, it's kind of expensive though with the Ls1 coil packs and so-on, I dont know if it would be worth it.

I have the Delteq. It is a great system and overall I am pleased with it. I bought my kit used (guy claimed it was new but it definitely was not) and no problems so far. It idles and revs more like an LS1 with this kit on it.

Mine is on the Driver Side Valve cover
The pic is a bit blurry but you can see what it looks like. I had to replace one coil on it because one the guy sent me was corroded. It runs like a champ with this thing.

Is it hard to position the wires to where they don't get touched by the exhaust manifold/headers, or do you use head wrap or anything with it?

You can run them through the stock location, but I snaked mine around kinda nicely and they do not touch anywhere. I could get some more pics up tomorrow night.

To install the kit, it took about 2 hours for everything, but I am a mechanic so I might be a bit faster than some.

The designer of Delteq is ill and guys are having issues with it and since the guy is ill there is NO support or replacement parts or even new kits to be had.

BOTH systems require a functional opti base meaning if one of these "fixes" your car then all you needed was a $100-150 cap and rotor kit, not a $600 "opti eliminator" kit that keeps the opti.

A cap and rotor are wear items on any distributor and for some reason people don't seem to grasp that with the LT1 and when they wear out curse the opti.

X2 The opti is really pretty good, not many other distributors can last as long as the opti can. The biggest concern with the opti is the place where it's located, that is what makes it a pita sometimes. Other than getting it wet, the opti really has no other issues.

I honestly just got it because I knew the cap and rotor would dick up on me sooner than later. When i had the miss, that was enough. Parts really are not that hard to get. ACDelco sells everything but the opti box and the harnesses. I called JT not all that long ago because I needed a heat shield that was not included. They have had excellent service and support in my experience.

Hey I have the Delteq setup on mine as well and have loved it for the past 3 years. The install is real easy and the power/response is way better than stock. Here's a pic of mine installed as well as you can go with the MSD coils as I did and I heat shielded each wire and routed them around the headers to keep them from getting burnt as this was my major problem before the Delteq. Just make sure you know that they are correct as JC the guy with Delteq is sick right now and customer service is next to impossible. The future of his company is uncertain as of now. That being said I still love the delteq setup and would highly recc it anyday.

Sorry to hear he is sick. I wondered emailed a while back and never got a reply.

The Delteq system is great I have it on two boosted LT1's and it is a life saver. It cleans up most rough idles and pulls smoother than stock. Have not compared to other system from what I hear it is also great system.

ONLY problem I have is when you do have a problem the waste fire can mask some fuel issues...

As for wires I used the Accel ~$35 and they modified nicely
