Default hi flo colling fans

ok guys so ive read over a few of the fan discussions when i searched and got alot of useful information. like how our radiators fill with dirt on the bottom rows and need to be cleaned to flow 100% fully. also i was seeing alot of people saying that the 1 16" extreme fan works very well. but then a few saying that the dual 11" fans work even better.

well here is my case and reason im making another thread. ive got an UD pullies and at idle my charge is just a smidge below 13, so im wondering if i go with a hi flow fan that pulls more will this affect my charging severly or should i still be fine? im really just wondering if anyone else running ud pullies has run into any problems when going to hi flo fans.

im in phoenix arizona and my car usually runs right around 210 which is totally not cool with me. i would like it to run under 200 if that means 190 then thats totally fine. please give me some suggestions oooooo wise ones of ls1tech. haha thanks guys!

does your car run at about 210 as well after sitting in some traffic? cause if i keep moving like dont have to stop for lights for maybe more than 2-3 minutes then my car will stay about 180 a little lower but the second i get stuck in traffic like bad traffic my temp goes up after about 5 minutes and wont go back down until i drive for another 10 minutes constant.

Install a 160* thermostat and use a "super-coolant" additive; additionally,
you can have the PCM programmed to kick the fans on sooner.

13 volts is low!

One way around it is probably to raise idle by close to the under drive RPM. Stock 600 ud is 25% make idle 700. That will restore the alternators ability to handle the fans equal to stock vehicle.

Next I would use an additive, and lower fan turn on to be say 185 degrees when car is < 30 mph 195 above. This is what I do to keep my intercooler cool. Once vehicle is >30 mph air is usually sufficient to cool a maintained engine in any environment. The thermostat will not help since the engine is already above even the 180 set point in the summer everywhere.

I gave example rpm and temperatures you will need to determine the values in your car for your area.

Good luck

A manual fan switch will help as well b/c you can control the fan settings yourself. I installed this, a 160* t-stat, Samco hoses, and an E-WP and my engine is always nice and cool in the Texas heat (especially when I'm not - no a/c)

I bought a single fan for my Mazda after the stock melted for the second time in two years from Kragen Auto, (it may be Sheckers in your neighborhood) it was a 16 inch fan and I think that it put out was like 300-400 cfm, I know as a primary it would cool a 3.0 Liter motor by itself and as a secondary it would go up to a 3.5 L, but it was like 60.-80. bucks.

so to anyone who is wondering how to keep their car running much much cooler, the advice i have is get a TUNE! wow i never thought that just simply having the fans engauge much sooner would keep my car this much cooler but my car now no longer ever goes over 180, might be 185 hard to tell exactly. this is in stand still traffic in arizona heat over 100. right as the car gets moving too the temp drops to about 165 or so give or take a few degrees. then at the lights it will slowly go up to about 180 the fans kick on full juice and it doesnt even think about going one step higher.

so my advice before you spend money on fans or anything else that might cost a nice chunk of change i would just get a simple tune as it will make your car run better all around. my car runs like a whole different beast now and i love it!
