need help choosing crank
need help choosing crank im building a 383 nitrous motor. Ive been looking at all the parts trying to figure out what parts to go with. Do any of you have any opinoins on going with a callies dragonslayer compared to an eagle? Im going to be running around a 150 to a 200 shot. Any suggestions for anything else i should do with my motor opinions on rods pistons ect? I appreciate any imput. Thanks

I bought the car with a 383 kit in it. But it was a eagle kit that was a cast crank and i beam rods with kb hyperteuctic pistions. I just graduated highschool and putting all my grad money into my car haha, ive put about 1g into the suspension already and planning on around 6 into the motor. I would like to bust into the 10's
Compstar Speedpack Callies "budget" line of rods and cranks with Mahle pistons at a good price.
sell off the eagle KB crap.
The stock crank would have worked at that modest level, I would consider it BETTER than the $200 cast aftermarket stuff.

It's a 383, no stock crank for that.
10 sec on $6k? You are going to need to budget well.
Best bang for your buck would probably be a 4340 Eagle crank. If you want to spend more, go with the Compstar crank. The DS is nice but overkill for your plan IMO.
And like 96capricemgr said, Mahle pistons are usually priced well and the quality is great.

another good ol made in the usa crank is the lunati sledgehammer. its what i went with but still not burning gas. i believe its about the same price as the compstar. looks good though and the machine shop said it was nice.
By the time you put together a forged rotating assembly using Eagle crap you are at very near the price of the Compstar Speedpack once you consider balance and all. If you want to go with chinese machined stuff at least go with Scat their QC is better then Eagle.

Agree with the above. I have an Eagle crank in my engine. It balanced fine w/out having to add metal, however I had to order an oversized pilot bushing and had to have my flywheel reemed a few thousandths because it would not fit on the locator on the crank. This has been an issue with Eagle for awhile.
