lt1 starter issues

That one is the big one. Get the smaller one next time 
Your style on Left, LT1 "mini" on Right. The Mini works for almost all SBC as well and in our testing (me and buddies) torque-ier too.

Apparently you can use the Corvette one as well, which is apparently has much more torque.

Since that starter is most likely a reman it was probably seized to begin with. I'm thinking the starter was the bad ground which caused your **** to melt.
If the postive wire was to touch the solenoid wire all it would do is engage the starter.

Tis odd, but it's like my transmission. Buddy adjusted the kickdown (correctly mind you) and then my tranny went down hill from there. Took it in to a shop (very reputable place) and had a tech take it for a drive and he said it was pretty much gone and the kickdown as pretty much perfect, but that it was most likely a coincidence.
