Default Another 383 stroker thread!

I finally decieded to tear into my motor... its just to slow for me! lol..

I plan on goin with a 383 stroker... I have a friend helping me out with part choices but he was telling me a:
-400 crank
-stock rods
-speedpro pistons/flat top/dual valve... (that sound right?)

I'm goin with the CC306 cam, Im using ported stock heads and intake...
-1.6 RR
-Harden pushrods
-Guideplates
-Im thinking 918 beehive valve springs....
-Longtubes....

With this setup, should I feel safe to spin my motor up to the cams recommendation?! 6300-6400rpms??
I want to use this cam to its full potential!

If you have any recommendations, feel free to put your 2 cents in!

You can't use a 400 crank in an LT1. All 400's are 2 piece rear main seal. You need a 1 piece RMS crank. Eagle and Scat both make affordable cast stroker cranks to fit an LT1.

You need a 1 piece RMS SBC 3.75" stroke, internally balanced crank.

Mojave is right. You will need an aftermarket 1 piece seal crank. As for the stock connecting rods, I would go with a set of eagle rods just because of the ease of mind. Then after you decide you want to bolt on a big blower or run nitrous you won't have to worry about snappin that rod and chucking it through the pan like I did. And that was with 125 horse shot of nos. Definately go with a set of eagle rods.

And if you have this 383 balanced. Go ahead and feel free to spin it at 7,000 rpm. She'll hold

7k is nothing. Healthy stock bottom ends will do it

Snorkel Motor!!!

i would recommend a preassembled short block from a reputable sponsor and a top end from advanced inductions or lloyd elliot portworks.

actually i believe scat makes a pretty cheap rotating assembly. i think its about $1055 from jegs. as for the cam, that cc306 needs to go higher from what hear. like 6600-6800
