LT1 controlled shut down

LT1 controlled shut down
I have a LT1 out of a 95 Trans Am in a CJ7 Jeep. Conversion was done with a Painless Wiring harness and a 4L60E from a Chevy Tahoe. It's run perfect from day one, with two exceptions. It has had two events that I would describe as a slow, controlled shut down. 1st time was whenever I got over 10,000 feet altitude 4 wheelling in Colorado, in 65-70 degree air, motor ran a little warmer than usual (never over 210) then would shut down, would always restart after 15-20 minutes. I assumed it had to do with running lean in altitude, would run all day long with the hood off. Second time was yesterday in 115 degree heat, driving on highway, never got over 210 but would shut down every 5 miles or so. I haven't checked fuel pressure but external pump never shut down, motor has not had any other issues in 12,000 miles since swap.

I haven't been able to check pressure yet since it's only happened on the road in extreme temps or at altitude above 10,000 feet. The shut down at altitude was in 65-70 degree air, but I wondered if it couldn't be an issue with head temp (?) sensor due to running lean? No "check engine" lights and I haven't been able to find a code reader that works on a 95 F body LT1, I'll probably have to shell out $$ for somebody to check for any codes set. I hate not being able to sort it out on my own.
