Default 98-02 guage cluster
does anyone know if you can swap out the lt1 cluster to a ls1 cluster and have it work properly

No, you cant. If it's a Camaro use the 97 LT1 cluster along with the 97 Dash, if it's a Firebird 94-96 model years, a 97 Cluster will work fine. If it's a 93 the tach wont work on either swaps, tried a 97 in my 93, the tach had issues, 93s use a tach filter that causes issues.
