Default Its fixed!!!

After thinking there was a fuel pump problem (new walbro), i cut & made an excess door, pulled the assembly & found that it was the hose, even that EFI hose doesn't work good in the fuel, the one end i had clamp, but the pump end i couldn't, it swelled up & was wobbling on the junksion, so basically it was pushing the fuel right back in the tank, so for now i had a piece of steel braided fuel hose, i was able to clamp it at both ends, pressure off the reg. is 50 psi, hooked up it was at 31 psi, so i raised the pressure to 45 psi, might be a tad high at idle, but at least i'm getting pressure now , the sound is back & it halls with the 4.11s.

The excess door was very easy with a dremmel, took about 20-25 min., i'm glad i did it, soooo much easier if something goes hay-wire.

Special thanks to Lonnie for the advice & EPP for wanting to send out a new pump for me.

Glad to hear it was so easy. I've considered doing such with some permanent bracing and MIG's in a door but thought it was excessive.

I have to admit dropping the axle to get out the tank though was a PITA. I went with a Racetronix 255lph unit so I should be fine for a while... but I remember thinking that a LS1 tank would be a great upgrade if I could get one to work. Those guys have it easy.... extra fuel capasity, a removeable filler tube (no dropping the axle), and lighter plastic construction to boot.

After that little stunt I seriously considered ditching the tank, plasma cutting out the dead space to make the trunk larger and installing a NHRA fuel cell. Seemed extreme, but after pulling and installing that tank twice in one day (long story) the trap-door seemed like a pretty good option.

How did you finally decide to mount the door when done? I've seen hinges, screw-downs, and even tack welding it then covering the seam with silicone. Still looking for a design I like.

I went & got a piece of thicker sheet metal at home depot, all i'm going to do is cut a piece to fit over it about 1/4" all around, then drill 4-6 small holes & use short sheet metal screws, it'll serve the pupose, plus look good, i thought about the hinge door idea, but to me its alittle more then really needed, but thats just me. I'll take a pic of it tomorrow when i get it put on.
