Royal Purple vs. XPR
I did a search. This really wasn't covered. My buddies told me to switch to Royal Purple. So I went out last night and purchased 6 quarts of the 10W30. My LT1 is my daily driver, as well as going to the dragstrip. I typically run Mobile 1 Fully Synthetic, 10W30.
After coming home I realized what I had read here, about the Royal Purple XPR. Per their website, it states the regular RP "delivers superior protection and improves performance in four-cycle gasoline and diesel engines." The XPR "for applications such as racing, modified engines and off-road use. XPR’s high film strength make it exceptionally well-suited for today’s high performance cars and trucks, particularly turbo and supercharged engines and / or engines using a nitrous boost."
So... Should I take all 6 quarts back and purchase the XPR? Or am I better running the regular Royal Purple?
EDIT: Called Royal Purple when they opened. And the XPR is double the price of the regular stuff.. so roughly $15/quart. I'm running the regular stuff (Still fully synthetic).
Here's the XPR:
