I usually make people turn the radio off when I go for a ride, so screw the radio

The windows, well you need to have the windows up to drag race at a track, so those are semi-important.....Id be all over a manual window conversion

My Radio's CD player stopped working.. the Gears on the tray that retracts the CD were stripped.. I took it apart and gutted it out. My whole Radio weighs maybe a pound.
I got my Music and it's light-weight..lol

Nice.
What exactly is the RAP? My 88 Silverado actually buzzes for about 20 seconds when I first turn the key, and also for the same amount of time when I shut the truck off.......
Perhaps it is suffering something along the same lines?

Edit: I reread, what does this typically look like, and where is it found? I guess if its $78something and I'm jobless I'm just going to deal with the noise? Any negative effects except for the racket?

RAP- Retained Accessory Power Circuit

Does it constantly do it, and is the Battery going dead? This guy's thing was doing it constantly, that is how we located it behind the Radio.

There is a Red Wire on the Connector for it from the Battery.. I think it shorted inside and was making a connection to something, and draining the Battery.

Nah its just at startup and shutdown, I get a funny sounding buzz on the passenger side, like a fan or something. Its in the truck I should probably just ask over on FSC. Battery is fine. I think I have a ground disconnected somewhere though, whenever you turn the turn signal on the voltmeter fluctuates. Gotta love a 20 year old truck!

The buzz returned today when I was putting back on the trim piece under the steering column (because I needed to open the hatch) and so I started playing with it again and noticed that the rattle is coming from the ABC side of the RAP module--which is a Red, Pink, and Blue wire.

The radio was playing in short bursts even with the RAP module pulled out, so I am at a loss there as to how it could even be getting power without the module in there.

When I pull the horn relay all symptoms stop---the radio short bursts, the buzz, everything...I don't understand why becasue the horn doesn't even play into the RAP circuit...

Does this make any of it make sense to anyone or do I need to just leave the Horn relay out and call it a day?

You have to have a wire or two shorted out in there, if all of the above stops when you pull one relay. If it annoys you that much either find the wires that are causing it, or just leave the horn circuit out like you said (Just flip people off, it works better).

I'm thinking a hot wire on the Horn Circuit is grounding when you plug in the relay. It has to be after the relay somewhere..

Haha, gotta love the Johnny Cash flip. Perfect for the situation.

Did you have any luck ripping into that wiring?

Not yet don't want to open up the steering column...if it keeps being a problem that will be my next look though.

Pull that horn circuit and give yourself a rest for a couple weeks. Then, if you cant bring yourself to do it in the future, just hook it back up and annoy the crap out of yourself until you do
