Loss of power with CEL?

Loss of power with CEL? Do our cars have a significant loss of power when the CEL comes on.. mine has been on almost since i got the car .. i need a new air pump .. and for some reason the other dya it went off for like 2 days and my car ran like a champ and felt alot more torquie ? Thats when i noticed the CEL wasnt on. Ialso think its time for a tune up it has 65000 mi and i dont think the plugs or wires have ever been changed..
