Default What all as to be taken off the back of the intake to pull it off

I've got all the bolts to the intake removed as well as everything else i canm see. Only thing i haven't touched yet is the rear of the intake, but i can't really see what all needs to be pulled off. Any help is appreciated.

Theres the EGR tube that runs from the back of the passenger side header to the back left hand side back of the intake manifold.

when im pretty sure everything is unbolted i take a prybar lightly to the intake. you will have to break the front and rear seal loose so it should feel stuck by hand but a bar should make quick work of it. just dont overdo it unless you are sure nothing is still attached.

Yes, it will be stuck down so prying it carefully will get it loose. I used a thin flat head screw driver and some muscle and it came right off. Be careful not to pry too much or too hard and compromise the aluminum of the heads and or intake manifold.

Thanks guys. i got it figured out. Stupid back bolt on the driver side was hiding from me. got it done though. Now its time to try and get the heads off............

Oh, also i forgot to ask, will i be able to tell if a lifter is collapsed by looking at them or do ineed to pull them out? And once i get the heads pulled, will i be able to tell if a vlave is messed up just by looking at it?

All you have to do to get the lifters out (after heads are off) is to take off the 3 bolts off holding the spider in place and then you just pick up the lifter guides (8) and then all the lifters should easily come out by hand. Check the condition of the rollers on the lifters and if they will not roll freely then they are not in good shape. For a collapsed lifter wouldn't that mean its not properly pumping oil? If so the way to tell would be to start the motor with the valve covers off and see what rockers are spitting oil and what one(s) may not be. But since you obviously cannot do that now Im not 100% sure how to tell, maybe someone will chime in that knows.

Has anyone ever had a socket come off and fall into the headers? Cause i just had this happen. Plus, I can't seem to get to the bolts from the fourth one back to the back of the motor. Suggestions?

not quite sure what you are taking off at the moment but im gonna assume your heads since you dropped a socket in your headers lol. i just used a regular 3/8 ratchet to get the head bolts off and dont forget about your cross over tube. to get the socket out either try a magnet or just pull your header off and shake it out.

Yeah that is what i have been using. 3/8 ratchet w/ a 5/8 socket. problem is i couldn't get the socket to the bolt because of the headers.

well if you havent unhooked your headers from the exhaust i would do that first. that way you can move the header out of the way plus you can get that socket out.

I have. it is hitting the motor mount and i can only move it out of the way so far. There are no more bolts to pull out. I double checked this afternoon
