Default Rev limiter question...

Ok, I have a question that may be silly.... lol. But I'm not sure about it. In my '93 Z28 the tranny shifts early (like 4500rpm sometimes), so I have to hold it in gear manually and shift it manually. The only problem with this is that in attempting to get it as close to the redline when shifting I sometimes cause it to hit the limiter. So my possibly silly question is this.... does hitting the limiter hurt the car any?

You dont want to be bouncing it off the rev limiter all the time like them ricers do..but its there for safety so no your fine.

Ive hit rev limiter lots of times never had a problem (MSD6AL box w/ rev limiter though). If you hit rev limiter while racing youll loose power, i would try to stay off the limiter.

LOL....just two weeks ago I went to the track (1/8 mile) and I was trapping 82mph pretty much every pass running a 8.7...everytime..I have an A4 car also with a stock rev limiter....For now...and on the last pass everything was in order to bust my 8.60...and I hit the rev limiter...it slowed me down 4mph and I ran a 8.80 on that pass. It just wouldnt shift when I wanted it to...I pushed it into 3rd at about 5,500 or so and it just ran on up and hit the rev limiter about 4 times before it shifted.....But on a side note I did Tree the **** out of the LS1 Camaro I was running...hit the rev limiter and still beat him

Try adjusting your t/v cable on your throttle body.

Haha, I'm trying to stay off of it, I just miss it by just a split second sometimes. But thanks for the answer about the safety. That's what I was looking for .

Yeah, like a ton of power . But yeah, again I'm trying to stay off of it, but sometimes I just screw up a bit . lol.

I did actually a while ago. It was shifting too high during normal driving. The issue with this though is that it shifts too early at WOT (aka weights and stuff) and so I have to shift it manually. Most of the time I get it to shift RIGHT on the redline, but from time to time it bounces off of it, so I just wanted to make sure.
