Default desperate... plug wires.

So I am on my third set of OTVC wires and so far ... a grand total of 0 have worked as they are supposed to. elites, taylors, MSDs, it doesnt matter!

What the hell is this, like playing the lottery? Ive already blown $250 on this winless game. After the first two sets didnt work I figured it must be the opti and it was just a coincidence that the problem began with the first set of wires. So i replaced that when i didnt need to. (so thats $550 total wasted so far). OTVC setups are a joke, I shouldve left the stock nightmare in place. Delco's are the ONLY wire my car has ever run right with.

I have had a low RPM miss for over a year now and it is completely ruining the fun of owning this thing. I am 999999% sure its the wires, because the freaking engine will idle different if i do something simple as move the wires with my hand while it is running.

ive crimped each set twice, tried insulation, tried zip ties, tried different plugs, tried different plug gaps, i have never burned any wires... what more can i do.

I give up. I am throwing time and money down the toilet. I dont see what is so difficult about engineering a conductor of electricity. I would literally feel more confident ripping a lamp cord out and using that right now

Have you ever thought about checking your 02 sensors? Those cause the low rpm miss-fire also.

oh yea that was actually contributing to the issue in the past. I suppose I could replace those a second time too, I forgot about the $80 I spent on those

it was 100% before I switched to OTVC. But hey it wouldnt surprise me if all this arcing and interference took that out now too.

There is currently a very small spot on the coil that is 'corona glowing'

What i dont understand is why the car decides it wants to run on all 8 as soon as you get above 2000-2500 RPM or whatever it feels like that day.

Check the coil even if it was 100% before, I find it very hard to believe that all 4 sets of wires were bad from the factory (Dont throw all those sets out, they still could be good!).

the factory wires worked GREAT!!! I got 33 mpg with those wires once upon a time. I only replaced them because I thought they were due, BIG MISTAKE. I destroyed them taking them out and who knows where the looms are now.

How can I check the coil and how much is a new one? (Im not really in the mood to blindly spend money anymore lol)

You wont have to spend anything (unless of course the coil is bad). Just take it to autozone or your local parts store, they can check it for you.

If your coil is bad, I would say pickup an MSD. Only about $50.00.

Edit : The MSD would be an upgrade anyways since you have a stock 95 coil. 96-97 stock coils are on par with the MSD. Have you done the ICM cooling mod? (Made the bracket to keep the Coil/ICM off of the head preventing heat soak?)

if that is an upgrade, would that help my ignition issue? I have not done the cooling mod, it is right on the cylinder head. doesnt seem to run any different warm or hot.

the problem with my arcing is that i cannot see it. It ONLY happens under load with at least 1/4 throttle, and i cant simulate that with just revving.
