Default trying to scan codes on a 94

well i have a 94 trans am with a bone stock lt1. the car wont start and i assume its the opti but i dident want to waist time chasing problems. so i bought a gm obd1 tool that makes the codes blink through the check engine light. it says it will blink once then display the codes but the light turns off right away and does not blink at all. the other weird thing is that when i turn the key on with the scaner in i can hear the air pump kick in. but with out it the pump doesent kick on unless the engine is runninig. thats the part that really confuses me. i know that the obd1 scanner works by shorting out the system or something along the lines of that so if its not correct i though mabe that would cause the air pump to screw up and come on so my big question is do the ob2 scanners work on lt1's? i thought the port looked alot like a obd 2 port and i herd that some cars got the obd 2 computer earlly. is the lt1 one of them?

You have OBD1, with an OBD1 port..........Only some 95s (like mine) had the OBD1 computer with the OBDII port.

Everything after 95 (96/7) was OBDII port AND computer.

flashing the codes through the check engine light does not work on 94. You need an actual obd1 scanner to read the codes.
