Default Tune on basically stock LT1

Anyone ever do a tune on a basically stock LT1, meaning maybe a CAI and catback at most? If so, was it worth it or noticeable and which one did you go with?

^^^^^^
What he said. If you plan on keeping it basically stock, make sure all your mods are installed at the time of tuning. Otherwise, you'll be heading back to the dyno again.

I firmly believe a tune is very helpful even on a 100% stock car. I would wait until you get comfortable with some mods and then have it tuned so you dont say add gears and then have it tuned then toss a cam in a month later and need a retune. If you go with say PCMforless and he tuned your car now, you would pay an additonal $50 for each retune which isn't too bad but cheaper to do it all at once. Some others like me have spent over $1000 in tuning between dyno tuning and mail order tuning with all the setups I have ran.

Reason why I ask is because I don't think I'm going to be doing too much engine wise for the next year or so; I already spent a bunch getting the engine running right stock (head gasket, oil leaks, blah, blah, blah). I think I read somewhere that if I use Premium gas all the time (which I do), I can get about 15 hp with just a tune, plus I can tune in the fan, and tune out the skip shift. If it only costs a little more for a retune if I decide to go with LT's, I don't think it would be too much.

Sounds like a plan I would go for a tune now and in the future if you do anything else just have it retuned. Just make sure whichever tuner you go with does that, I am aware that PCMforless does and I would assume others do as well but best to check with them first.

A tune is helpful even stock. It runs too rich stock.

I contacted the two popular tuners and both came back with essentially the same answer: I'd get about 12 to 20 hp with just a tune if I run premium all the time, which I do. The tune would cost less than $175. What type of performance difference would that much hp make, 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc?

You will feel the difference, lets put it that way. 15-20hp is going to make the car feel a little stronger. Might pickup a couple tenths in the quarter aswell.
