Default 8K to spend... What to change to go fast?

The car is a 91 LT5. It had intake, thero, DRM chip soo far. Im looking for something in the range of 500-600HP no NOS. Help me please guys.

I was thinking gears, headers, flywheel. I heard changing cams on the LT5 if they are stock displacment is not a good idea. So what else can i do? Is there a SC for the LT5?

you can always supercharge it liek you said. Those motors are EXPENSIVE to work on power wise so 8K wont go as far as say on a LT1 or even an LS1. However, you can scratch the flywheel off the list of go fast goodies. It will only make you rev a little faster but at the expensive of bogging easier. I would start with a complete exhaust system, gears, a clutch cause your gonna need it soon, then a set of heads if you got enough left over. With those mods, you car will be a lil louder depending on what exhaust layout you do, but make a nice power curve and it will be a sleeper for the most part(no cam lope or supercharger whine).

do a few bolt ons, get your gears, shifter, exhaust, already got your chip, get the heads off there and do some mild port and polish work,(intake/exhaust ports/injector housings) and throw a nice 150 shot of N20 on that bad bitch. LT5's respond VEEERRRYYY well to nitrous. That car will be NAASSTTYY!!

well just re-read your post and saw you dont want N20......supercharger system for an LT5 is going to be VERY expensive, when everything is said and done,(cost of the system, installation, tuning, fuel system..etc..etc) you could be very close to 8 grand or over easily. Too bad LT5 motors are so expensive to work on, you could build a nice 383 stroker motor if it was an LT1.

supercharge the bitch. Dont even think twice. If you are capable of doing the install you self (i did mine and it was cake) you should be able to get a nice kit for around 5-6grand. And then spend the rest on headers (hooker lt) clutch and Tires. Then hope your rear end dont go out on you to fast. MIne lasted 1 summer with the blower. I changed it when i changed my center force clutch that blew into little peices. Good luck

Who sells a SC for the LT5? Im going to do all the installation so the 8K will be only parts. The headers and the bolt ons are a must, but that wont help me have 500-600HP. Does anyone know the stock C/R of a LT5 engine?

wouldnt be a good combo at all, thats why i suggest a good set of heads, complete exhaust, gears and a good clutch. the car will be a kick butt sleeper. If you have enough cash left over, get a set of cams, but im sure that takes quite a lot of moola as well if I remember correctly.

another option is selling the car and getting an lt1. then we'd be talking. 500-600 would not be a problem. just my .02 cents. good luck either way.
