Default Gonna pull my Z28 out of storage.... Here is the performance plan..

1993, pretty clean, put it in storage because it's my first car and I moved to the beach and I didn't want it rusting out. But my $45K truck is rusting so I think out of my cars I'll bring the camaro down here since I probably need to sell it or get some use out of it.

Plan:
HotCam Kit
2500-2700rpm reworked stock GM budget stall and a little deeper pan (I understand you can get these off newer GM trucks?)
Pacesetter lt headers
True duals (any kits out there? offroad)
Mail order Chip (remember this is a 93), who should I contact?

Car:
105K miles
Auto, rebuilt at 57K miles, has a shift kit I think by B&M.
3.23 gear
1LE driveshaft waiting to go in (bought it for $20)
No cat, flowmaster.
'Autoparts store special' water pump installed around 104K miles.

Questions:
1)Think my opti is ok if the car is running fine?
2)Do they make black sheeps wool type seat covers for this car? I'd like them to match the mullet I'm growing as well as possible Kidding about the mullet.
3)How many hours book does it take to install the hot cam kit?
4)What am I missing here?

Looking to do this as cheap and simple as possible.

Thanks in advance, any other ideas are welcome as well!
Joe

Just to give you an idea on time. A friend and myself did a swap of injectors, heads, intake manifold, and cam in less than 50 hours.

depending on your mechanical ability the cam will take around 15-20hrs working at a normal pace. its just a lot of putsy stuff that takes a while. the stall will take around 4 hrs to complete. from start to finish

How about the fuel system? Stock injectors and fuel pump... Think they'll work ok?

DD around town. Just as long as it isn't too much of a pain in the *** I'll be ok... Don't want to hurt the fuel economy too much though, the car did good when I daily drove it stock... Good car still and suprisingly doesn't use a damn drop of oil between changes.

Doing this on a budget because it isn't something I'll rely on.

Here is what I've came up with so far:

Get Circle D to build me a mild converter

Cam
arp rocker studs
ls7 lifters
hardened comp pushrods
roller rockers- summit brand or used
Maybe I can find someone that wants to sell the springs and hardware off a hotcam kit, they hold 525 lift right?

Pacesetter LT headers, used and rusty
Headers back
-I do have an SLP dual/dual with a cut out in it that I'll make an S bend out of two 90's leading up to the mid pipe if I use it... Or just sell that and go duals.

I have some 'brand I don't' know tubular lower control arms laying around and a 1LE driveshaft.

Anything I'm missing?

Cheap as in cheap up front, so you can spend timand money fixing it later?
Or cheap as in done right the first time without junk you don't need?

(You don't have to answer that, just think about it)

I just did the exact build you are speaking of. With the exception of true duals, that is.

You might want to look into buying larger valve springs with the HC kit. I think Im having valve fload issues.

Ive been told the stock 22# injectors will work fine so I didnt replace them. That may be my problem now though.

I got the tune from PCMforless($208). But right now there is a guy on www.speeddensity.org selling two hotcam chips for automatic cars. CHEAP ($120)as in I would have bought one if I had seen them first.

I dont have a stall right now...or gears. Im still running the stock 2.73's which is killing the ride, So its parked right now waiting for a 3.42 rear.

It will still blow the tires off through first and deep into second though!!!

Correct. They'll hold .525" lift. I just picked up the LT4 springs, locks, retainers, and seats for $40 shipped off a member on Camaroz28.com. There was another guy selling it all for $50 on there too.

Now i need to read up on my cams and find something that'll match a 2700 stall... Or just go with a hotcam kit.

they say a 2800 stall is perfect for the hotcam. your injectors should be fine. i forgot 93's had 22# compared to later model f-bodies that had 24# injectors. i have a 3,000 stall which seems to work good. it might be a little too big though

Cool, I'm going to start a new thread about what cam choices I should look at.

That's about all the rpm I want with the stock transmission with around 50K miles on it. Just going to a deeper pan to keep it cool, don't want to fiddle with a cooler.

if your going to put a stall in it a aftermarket cooler is a must! your going to fry your trans if you dont. no way a deeper pan is going to keep it cool enough. i have a cooler on mine and it still gets hotter then i like. im thinking of adding another one.

My H/C install shipping list : http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2297151/4
That should give you a good idea of what you might need for your project.

Also, you end up needing injectors, I have a set of flowmatched 30# SVO injectors for sale over in the for sale section.
