its m6..i'd like to go cam/heads but don't wanna send heads in to get ported, rather have it done locally. but no one here does it. So does anyone know of a good set of heads for decent price? lowest i can find is trickflow in summit magazine for 1400 assembled 1000 not assembled..

you will get more power from porting your stock heads than you will buying an aftermarket casting and not porting it. Both A.I. and lloyd elliot are very good at what they do and can get you a lot of power with your stock castings.

Why dont you want to send off your heads?

I have to have a shop install the heads for me, so once they got the heads taken out then i'd send them and by the time i got them back the car would have been waiting to be worked on a week or so i'm assuming. It would just be alot easier if i had the heads in hand for the shop to install rather than me have to ship/wait til they're done if that makes sense..

Oh i see...maybe you could work something out with lloyd and see if you could pay extra for another set of heads and then get a core charge back when you send yours to him. That just an idea of mine so im not sure if he would do it, but i do know that those setups have been proven time and time again and you would probably make more power for your money doing that than using the trickflows.

actually i think ai has that actually, i veigly remember reading something on that. i think it was like 600 or something and they refund it. i dunno if i read it all right though..I read all that and didn't know if that's what they meant when they were talkin about sending/receiving cores. in my defense of being retarded i just skimmed it and need to go back to their site to confirm it all.

What are your plans for the car? Full out race car, daily driver with some power, daily driver in need of saving gas, weekend warrior? It really matters.

I'm gonna be traveling 80 miles every other day and 30 the other days to class. so i need decent gas mileage, but yeah, i'm wanting a daily drivin powerful street car, that gets good mileage which my m6 should help with that.

and does suspension do alot when you're on streets with street tires, i'm sure it does i guess i just havn't put much thought into it..

Yeah. Um. No.

If he spends the $2,000 on his LT1 (which he already has) he will have a faster car than a stock LS1. I know it's not saying much, but saving another $5,000 for a slower car mite not make sense to some people.

Very insightful post, looks like you got 28 others out there somewhere too that are no doubt just as informative.

There will always be one I guess.

Take that 2k, and get yourself a stall/start building suspension/gears and all that with install should be right around there. If your insistant on going with a heads/cam setup before all of that then call up either Lloyd Elliot or Advanced Inductions and have them put togeather a set for you. That still might be a little over 2k though, when labor and all is added in...

But dont listen to all the LTx haters out there, especially coming from someone who has owned both. Both cars could have been monsters or made as much power as I wanted, it just comes down to what you like best (and how much $$$ you can throw around also, hahaha)...

Oh, and to the original poster.

You will save ALOT if you do your own labor (I saw you mentioning a shop putting on your heads). $2,000 won't go far if you have to pay someone to do it all, or even some of it. Labor is always very expensive.
