Questions about 1.7RR install

Questions about 1.7RR install I just picked up some Angus Racing 1.7RR's from a member off CZ28.com, and also a spring, lock, and retainer set from a hotcam kit. I want to get them installed next week but have a few questions first. Will I need to get new pushrods and lifters for a rocker arm install, or not worry about it until I swap the cam? Also, which guideplates will I need, if I'm sticking with stock pushrods? http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...c3e481ed22b451
i believe he is doing this with a stock cam just the parts are from the hotcam kit. but anyways with a stock cam and 1.7s he'll be running .5168 lift which is smaller than the advertised lift the lt4 hotcam kit is capable of

Exactly. That's why I went with the hotcam springs. Otherwise, I would've just gotten the Comp 918's. But, I figured I'd save myself around $150-$200, since I got the LT4 springs, locks, and retainers for $40.
I used GM valve springs with my 1.7s. Mine were good to .560 lift. They were for a V6 but fit perfect and saved money. I got the part number from a buddy and they do work flawlessly. I went a step further and got valve seals while I was at it. You can order them from the counter at your local GM dealership and they'll be there in 1-2 days.

The rockers I'm guessing are not self aligning. I run Trickflow guide plates,
5/16, 30400623-8 and TF 7.200 "chromoly pushrods". You will also need Arp
rocker studs with the added length to bolt on the guide plates, what ever your rocker size is. Oh, and maybe new valve covers.

Verdad Gallardo Okay, let me say it a different way. I have the 1.6 CC roller rockers ( NSA ) with comp pushrods, GMPP guide plates, ARP 7/16" studs and LT4 springs. All of this is on the stock heads and stock cam. I get some occasional float with this setup, LT4 springs just get a little weak over time (I've had mine for a couple of years). If I were to do it again I would put a spring in that would give me a little more room to play, that is just too close IMO. I think your going to have some float after the springs are used for a couple of months. Your already spending a decent amount of money, just go a little bit more and I think in the long run it will work out much better 
PS: I have a set of CC 1.7's with comp EX-614 springs just sitting in a box. Never got around to changing it to a 1.7 setup

I'll check and see if I can get you a part number for them. I want to say they were for a 3800 V6, but don't quote me on that. I know they were an OEM GM maunfactured part as well as the valve seals. I was really impressed with them especially for the price.
