TSP Rumbler X true duals. Its intended for an LS1 but, with a small switch of two pieces it works perfect for my LT1. Put these on back in 2003 or 2004 and still have it today.

Here's a 2min vid of what it sounds like on a bone stock LT1 with pacesetter LT's (pay attn and you'll notice the wonderful SES light for no rear O2's and jacked up coolant level light... haha..) :

First... looking and thinking about it.. it was one piece really.. Well, the LS1 has the Driverside header pointing to the outside for whatever reason and our LT1's point straight back. So, I ditched one of the weird pieces for that Driverside part. I had the whole thing welded at a shop and the guy made me this piece to fill the void. Its just like a 12" piece of 3" pipe that he had to flare out at the one side. Cost me $20 since I gave him all the other band clamps I didn't need due to welding everything.

Setup is Hooker coated LTs <<<which are junk son't buy them<<<, Summit universal X pipe, 2 boxes of mandrel bends which include 2 90*, 2 45*, and 2 180* bends in each box plus a few scrap pieces I had from a header back kit on an S10 and a few feet of straight pipe.

But its a set of true duals over the axle with a magnaflow daul in/dual out muffler and it sounds amazing IMHO

FWIW,

Here's a thread over at the HybridZ (Datsun 240Z related) forum where a guy built his own x-pipe for his sbc conversion:

http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=137897

He describes his design decisions with some detail and I find it interesting that the pix of the commercial x-pipes posted here seem to be a lot narrower than the one he made. I.e. his "crossover" hole is somewhat smaller, making his x-pipe somewhat wider at the throat.

He also discusses some observations about pipe flows using a heat gun with and without one header pipe closed off that you might find interesting.

I continue to be curious about whether anyone has ever documented performance improvements for x-pipes, or whether they're primarily for sound control/improvement. Also whether h-pipes perform differently.

Anyone?

Cheers -- Gary

went from 274hp/306tq to 282hp/319tq only things I changed was the swap to headers & x pipe setup and LT4KM. Stock everything else. Still even had the stock SS intake then. Those dynos were a few months apart. It felt like it gained some but, then again, it was alot louder and could just have been mostly the usual "I think it feels faster now" mod excitement.

so you only picked up 8hp and 13lb ft of torque with LT's, and x-pipe? or you picked up that much swapping from a Y to an X?
