Default car running same

when i replaced the two o2 sensors this weekend, my car started to run a little bit better and it made me happy, but than i erased all the codes and the check engine popped up again, it was still idlig high, so i went back to advanced, they told me it was an idle air control thing...w/e you call it, but i decided to check it out...

80 dollars for this stupid thing.

so i said, can i clean it or repair it or something? they said...junkyard, so im like w/e i went and took it off and cleaned the spring and the head thing on it and decided since i had the intake manifold off, i cleaned that thing.

so when i put it all back together, the car idled at 3000 and wouldnt go down.. i got pissed and threw things.

than i went out, and drove it to the advanced down the street..by the time i got there it was idling like normal, at 600rpm. i turned it off went in, he pulled codes and blah blah..

turned it back on, idle at 2500, went down to 1500 after a few seconds, than put it in drive its at 950-1000.

exactly where it was before.

help?

should i replace it? i know i shouldnt have cleaned it, but it was my only choice at the moment. gotta wait till friday to get 80 bux.

thx for your help/incites.

If the IAC is throwing codes, its because the voltages are erratic and not that its not clean. Usually cars that have a DIRTY IAC idle crazy and dont throw codes (usually, dare I say all). If the IAC is dead, then theres no way around replacing it.

the idle will move around a bit, i kinda...today...kinda...accidently took needle nose locking pliers to a wire on accident and ripped a couple of the frayed wired off, but wrapped it with electrical tape. i think it should be fine, but i need a new one, can anyone tell me where i can get a new wire plug thing? would gm have em?

when i went back after i cleaned everything, it pulled 234890304 codes..than i drove it for a bit and after about 10 miles the check engine light came back on so i went back and it said the IAC valve again, the idle is still goin around, searchin and what not, it will idle perfect at 600 at certain ttimes, but not often.

that sounds very similar to a problem ive been having. shell idle high and then idle fine and doesnt seem to be running 100% right. i disconnected my IAC and the idle shot up to 3000. and its all clean and oiled up. but it is original and has 150k miles on it.......

You mean the end of the wire (connector, or pigtail)?

yeah man, if you have 80 bux..go to autozone and grab that sucker, i know for a fact that theres something wrong with it now..cuz your not supposed to clean it, and i did and when i put everything back together the car idled at 3000 in park, it sucked ***... but i drove it right to the auto store and it idled perfectly fine when i got there, but started to **** up once i turned it off and back on to leave.
