Default Just bought a 93 TA

I just bought a 93 TA and the car ran pretty sweet when it was cool. I then was driving it and heard it get rattly under the car. I noticed that the CAT was broken up. I hollowed out the cat and the response picked up on it quite a bit. I then changed the plugs and wires. I bolted the exhaust back up and started it and it immediatley started running like it had a cam in it again because by that time it was hot. When I got into the car this morning it still ran bad and it was cold.

Do you think that there is another problem or maybe the CAT junk got into the muffler and is stuck in there now.

Right now a 1983 ford pinto could beat my car... It bucks at low rpm's and at 50 it has no power what so ever.

Are you getting any error codes. Maybe you did not get the boots all on correctly. Im thinking you may have a missfire from that.

my guess would be misfire. maybe put the boots on the wrong plugs or didnt get one on all the way. are any of the plugs sitting too close to the headers?

I double checked the plugs/wires. No misfire. No engine codes. I am going to check the fuel pressure tonight to see if thats the cause. God this sucks.

Could a blocked fuel filter make it run bad like this.

Fuel filters are recommended to be changed I believe every 10K miles,,, not sure on that. I do know it is supposed to be done frequent though. My filter looked new, but i changed it anyways and the fuel that came out of the filter looked nasty. Install University explains how to do it on a LS1. I think it is all the same except for the schrader valve is in another spot.

we do every 15k, if it was a filter, it would run crappy all the time, and be sluggish and such. from what you say its only when the car is cold, id check start-up ECT and IAT.
