I was in at Oreillys yesterday talking to a buddy of mine, and joking around about octane booster. He said they're all junk except for two of them. One was made by NOS, and I forgot what the other one was. It said it'd raise your fuel grade by 7 points, and he told me it'd actually work, unlike the others. But, that's just what I heard, no real proof.

7 points is really nothing if you are putting in all 93 octane and put in 1 bottle of nos you now have 93.7 gas but not all ur gas is that. ur better off putting in like only 5 gallons and adding the nos additive. either way the best gas out there is 93 bp gasoline. u will get the most out of ur engine with that gas alone

They add aroound 15rwh...lol. No, but seriously though I just used some in my car last week because I had a store credit at Baxters Auto and said screw it I will try some..no effect at all. Waste of $10 bucks. Get some racing gas if anything.

You know the outlaw booster that they used to put in the 4 metal cans? We put all 4 of them in a yamaha warrior 4 wheeler with some 116 race fuel. WOW. That thing would **** and get. And burn your eyes if you got behind it.

NOS off road formula it claims 7 point upgrade (like 50 something ponts) to make your octane 98 if your using 91 not .7 I would just get 100 at the track if they have it. Just go with a near empty tank and add a couple gallons

Thanks guys, thats what i thought too, i've heard the Nos works, my ONLY issue with the race gas is will it hurt my O2s, i heard it would, now i do know they make an Unleaded race fuel, will that work & not harm the 02s?

I do 100 when i go to the track. It is unleaded and will not harm O2s. Just ask if it is unleaded and you will be fine

Is there really any gain to be had from using race gas on a bolt-on's, geared car without a tune???

Do what this crazy old guy (who knew his ****) used to do back in the day lol Run a bunch of paint thinner in with the gas Said it turns your plugs snow white.

But sadly, with fuel injection, doing that will probably melt some stuff that we don't want melted!

Just go run some 100, 105 or 110 octane fuel and be done with guessing/hoping the crap in the bottle you just spent $8 on, works.

But, I also heard by a chap who had access to stuff to do octane testing, that the stuff you get in the 4-pack works. It's the 4 little bottles with the horse on it, with a fiery mane. I can't remember who makes it :\

Apparently this stuff is supposed to work well.

And also a good read I stumbled upon in my searching.

I've heard that this stuff can mess with your O2's as well.

Oh well... I dont believe any hype on the octane booster stuff. WAY to much misinfo and rumors/stories. If its helping you at all... its probably more like a bandaid for a more significant problem. Time for a tuneup and a new dyno tune with an experienced tuner.

Octane booster is like the car world equivalent of diet pills. hehe...
