Default Rebuild Question

I got the six speed in apart Thanks alot to Graysteal M6's Write up., and fount that the 1st/2nd syncronizer keys where sheared off.

now with the questions.

Replacement part list ATM:
1st/2nd Sycronizer keys
3rd/4th scronizer keys
1st/2nd shift fork pad
Isolator cup

Now that i have it apart is there anything else i should replace?

after second craped out the gear didn't spid down i had to grind it in. was that because of the Keys or should i replace the Friction cones for 1st and 2nd?

Also from the ginding i find it hard to slide the 1st/2nd Synchronizer Sleeve on too the 2nd gear, from the grinding there is alittle lip on the gear teeth and the sleeve, can i take a little metal file and smooth that down??? or do i have to replace all that????

I can post pic's later when i get home.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Steel 3/4 fork.
Bronze fork pads on all 4 forks,
New friction kit for all synchros..

No reason to skimp on the rebuild while it's apart.

You can clean up the slider teeth with a file as long as they are not too bad. The rebuild manual has guildelines.

3/4 fork is known to bend under hard shifting. Vipers and later GM versions all came standard with them.

Do a search in this forum and you might find a few others.
