Default Spec 3+ chatter question

I put a Spec 3+ in my 99 z-28 along with a steel Spec flywheel. I also installed a slave for a 2002 camaro. When we first put the clutch in it engaged perfect without any chatter. Now after I broke it in for about 500 miles it chatters like the clutch is slipping on the flywheel or something? It only does it upon takeoff and shifts fine and does'nt slip at all. Is this normal or should I look into replacing my master cylender also? The engagement point is pretty close to the floor. I was told this was normal with this clutch. Is this true?

Light chatter is normal. Mine is nearly chatter free and the engage point is very high or far away from the floor.

My buddies 3+ engages close to the floor too but I keep hearing different opinions. I did install the shim that came with the kit though.

My 3+ still chatters alittle on take off and I have 10K mile on mine. My engagement point is around the middle. You'll get use to it and learn how to drive around the chatter. I've had the Centerforce DF clutch and the LS7 before my spec 3+ and so far my 3+ has been the best of the three.

Use, or lack there of, of the shim will effect the engagement point. So too can hydraulics. Does the amount of chatter reduce as the car warms up...and thus as the clutch is used over the course of driving the car? I am willing to bet that you have noticed this tendency to chatter as the temps have begun to drop outside. It is not terribly unusual for temps to affect engagement a bit. Just a thought...

The chatter actually seems to get worse as the car warms up. Sometimes the clutch will chater and other times it won't chatter at all with the same driving style.

Temps can certainly affect this and if the clutch disc is getting really hot it will of course get stickier. Are you noticing anything in regards to inconsistent pedal feel or release?

my spec 4 chatters when slipping the clutch in a slow situations....starting from a light, or in a parking lot.

does it BAD when i first drive it for the day, or its sat for a while

as the car/clutch warm up it doesn't do it as bad.

it progressively got worse and worse.

started after about 1500miles on the clutch, and was about 1/2 sec of chatter when i first released the clutch. now it does it for noticably longer nd on the first few clutch releases at start up.

its embarassing more than anything

Default clutch chatter

Clutch chatter is controlled by driving style. I am sure that you are aware that when you try and "slip" the clutch it will chatter, this is normal. Keep your RPM's up and you will minimize the chatter that is common with this style of disc. Also your clutch might engage low because you did not install the shim, it is a way of preloading the hydraulics and controlling where the pedal sits.
